*Thump Thump* "Umm, is this thing on?"

Hello friends, family, and other interested parties!

This is the inaugural post of my travel blog, and mainly this is just to make sure that it is working like it is supposed to, and so I can mess with all the little switches and levers in Blogger. So many buttons, must poke all of them.

It is very likely that if you are coming here you know me and thus you already know that I am in Cairo. Cairo is a magical place, full of loud noises, strong smells (not all of them bad!) and people who are often nice and opinionated in equal measure. Really the longer I stay here the more it seems like my kind of place.

I have stories for you all, but since this is the first post for now I am going to leave it like this. Of importance, I bought a camera just yesterday, and I have some pictures for you, because I know how much Pam loves pictures, so here you go Pam.

This the view from the 7th floor terrace in my building.

Here is my breakfast today. Salmon bagel from Munch and Bagel. Mmmmm

And a few friends from last night's adventure to Indian food and hookah. No pictures of me smoking hookah, but there is one really crappy picture of the street the hookah smoking took place on.

Because I am a crappy photographer (I should work on that) it is difficult to tell, but this sidewalk is packed with people. This is what Egyptians do in the evenings - head to a cafe, smoke some shisha and relax. I enjoyed it, even though it was a bit of a Goldilocks situation - the peach was too harsh, the cherry too light, but the lemon-mint was just right.

Anyway, that's it for the first post. There will be other posts coming soon, I just need to work on some formatting stuff based on how this post lays out.

Cheers from Cairo,
Tim
